telstra spam protect

Telstra has announced changes to its scam management procedures, effective from 19 August 2025.

Under the new process, Telstra will implement hard blocking of calls flagged as spoofing or exhibiting scam-like patterns from Calling Line Identifiers (CLIs) that are not whitelisted. Previously, calls from Telstra-held CLIs triggered an Interactive Voice Response (IVR), requiring the caller to enter a digit to proceed.

Telstra has established a whitelisting process for customers with Rights of Use (RoU) for Telstra CLIs. Once whitelisted, calls using these CLIs will not be blocked.

Each carrier working directly with Telstra on a retail or wholesale basis is responsible for validating RoU for all numbers submitted on behalf of your end customers. If scam-related activity is traced to a whitelisted number, you will be required to provide proof of legitimacy and authorisation.

This process is essential to prevent misuse and maintain the integrity of communication services across networks.
